Colby Drilling Company commenced operations in July 1986. Managing Director, James Colby has been involved in the Drilling Industry for the past thirty years, giving the Company a wide range of experience on which to call when necessary.
Colby Drilling has carried out a variety of contracts for most of the major mining companies and many smaller exploration companies in Western Australia.
The Company specializes in high quality sample recovery in all geological formations. Well known for innovative and practical solutions for many years Colby’s rig fleet includes 3 Foremost (Barber) DR24 dual rotary rigs along with 5 new Italian made Fraste diamond drilling rigs which the latest safety and productivity innovations, including hands-free rod handling and breakout systems for Reverse Circulation and Diamond drilling.
Types of work carried out include:
- Large diameter dual rotary drilling from 6" to 24″ diameter
- Triple tube coring for maximum recovery in broken or soft formations
- Diamond Core drilling to 1200m
- Reverse circulation and conventional drilling
Colby has a variety of cyclones and sampling devices, rig and trailer mounted.
Colby uses a range of drill strings from 3.5" to 11" diameter and operate a complete range of hammers, both conventional, and reverse circulation up to 24" diameter, utilising auxiliary compressors and boosters as required.
